Description

The Prawn Nebula, also known as IC 4628, is an Magnitude 7.1 HII emission nebula located around 6,000 light-years from Earth in the constellation of Scorpius.

It is about 250 light-years across It spans over three full moons on the sky. The region is bathed in invisible ultraviolet light from nearby hot, massive young stars which strip electrons from the Hydrogen causing it to glow.

I revisited and cleaned up data from 2021 with new tools in Pixinsight but the mosaic  I shot just wasn't up to scratch.

Gettings consistent quality across a mosaiced field like tthis requires spanning the entire field each night which probably needs a mountain top, or a lot of luck, or a Red Cat 71.

Maybe Next summer.
